Description

The Lake Central High School’s boys’ track and field team competes during the spring sports season. A total of 16 events comprise track and field, broken down into 5 field events (high and long jump, shot, discus and pole vault) and 11 running events (4 x 100, 4 x 400, and 4 x 800 meter relays: the 100, 200, 400 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races; and the 100 and 300 hurdles. Participants compete as individuals and as a team. There are usually nine varsity level races per season, and elimination tournaments leading to the State championship meet. There are usually eight JV level races per season. Participants are selected to compete at the JV or varsity level depending on performance at the most recent meets. Practices can include running, endurance building exercises, weight training and technical training for the field events and hurdles.

The regular season begins in late March with a scrimmage game and finishes in late May with an average of 23 games per team. Post season tournament play for the varsity team begins at the end of May with the sectional qualifying tournament toward the State championship.

The Lake Central High School girls’ softball team competes in the spring sports season. Softball is a team sport. Lake Central High School has a JV and varsity team. The season officially begins in early March and games begin in late March or early April concluding in late May with an average of 25 games per team. Post season play for the varsity team begins at the end of May with the sectional qualifying tournament toward the State tournament.

Description

The Lake Central High School boys’ golf team competes during the spring sports season. There is a varsity and JV team. There are 18 meets before the State tournament series. They play against two teams at a time and therefore play each team twice during the season. They host an invitational each season and play in approximately 7-8 invitationals elsewhere.

Description

The Lake Central High School girls’ tennis team competes in the spring sports season. Skills which must be used are: forehand, backhand, overhead, volley, and serve. When competing in a match, there are two games played: a singles (an opponent from each team competing against each other) and doubles (two opponents from each team competing against each other). Tennis has two levels of play, varsity and JV. Varsity is the top seven players based on challenge matches and ranking. JV is the second seven players. Their schedule consists of matches and tournaments. Approximately 20 individual matches are played by varsity and JV. The varsity post season tournament Tennis (Girls) begins at the end of May. The teams practice 6 days a week. Practice includes game play, drills, running, footwork, strength training, and challenge matches
